EFFECTIVE MOTIVATIONAL LEADERSHIP

I had under gone the Effective Personal Productivity training conducted by OPUS at ONGC Nazira for the last 2 months. It was an excellent course. It imparted the time, cost conscience in me. The tasks are construed as goals and the schedules are monitored through monitoring tools, resulting in the time and cost saving in achieving the goals. Some specific achievement made by me is listed below:

• Completed the LOGMIS software in record time.
• The benefit to the ONGC from the Soft Ware developed is approximately Rs. 10 Lakhs.
• Saved nearly 15 to 30 minutes per day by prioritizing the jobs.

Our turnover in the Gear Division last year was Rs. 60 crores. This year upto December, we have done Rs. 54 crores. We expect to close the year at Rs. 80 crores - a target which we have been aiming for long. In our MHE Division, the design group has taken about 20% less time than normal in completing design work for a project. LMI has contributed significantly to these achievements. I find people are much more focused. They are very positive and are willing to take challenges. Teamwork has certainly improved.

They say “common sense is not so common”. We see success around us and strive to be successful, but forget the common sense approach towards it. This program conducted by you has opened my mind to the basics of achieving success through time management and hence achieving higher/greater personal productivity. Dr. Rao, you have been a catalyst in forcing me to change my attitude and habits so that I can be on the path to achieve my true potential.

Siemens Ltd India had been going through very trying and turbulent times and had accumulated losses of over Rs 2000 million during the year 96-97 and 97-98. We tried various corrective measures like right-sizing, restructuring and human development processes to turn the corner. Last year we were able to make a turnaround by posting a profit and this year (99-00) we were able to post a record profit of Rs 840 million. LMI made a substantial, personal contribution towards this endeavour by conducting special programs on personal and organizational productivity for us when we were restructuring the organization with a renewed emphasis on Human Resource Development.

My self confidence has increased and I have changed my attitude towards other people. We have now successfully turned around the company and generated profits. There was greater clarity and understanding of organizational goals resulting into a better team work and performance. In specific terms, our turnover has increased by 40%. Marketing, Manufacturing, Finance and New Product Development operations have improved making us viable and competitive.

There has been a significant impact in the way we look at everything post the LMl EPP program. In an industry where the average turnover dropped by 33% in the year 2019, we were able to restrict it to 15% which is very significant, and is entirely due to the various steps we took, by looking both inwards and outwards. On the personal front, I successfully completed setting up a home gym, hosted our daughter's wedding, and took a family trip to Tanzania.

I could have gained much more from the EPP Program, the least that it has done for me is that I now become automatically conscious whenever I am into tasks that are not productive enough for my time. I have become fiercely protective of my time.
